Watersports in Bonaire, Netherlands

The Caribbean's windsurf island — constant trades, flat water, and coral reefs

Bonaire is a small island in the Dutch Caribbean that has been the spiritual home of Caribbean windsurfing since the 1980s. Lac Bay, on the island's east side, offers a shallow turquoise lagoon with steady 15–25 knot trade winds and butter-flat water — an almost perfect setup for windsurfing, kiteboarding, and foiling. The surrounding coral reef protects the bay and creates an underwater world that makes Bonaire equally famous for diving.
