Watersports in La Ventana, Mexico

Baja's secret — desert mountains, El Norte wind, and warm Sea of Cortez water

La Ventana is a small beach town on the Sea of Cortez side of Baja California Sur. Every winter, the El Norte wind channels through the gap between the Sierra de la Laguna mountains and Isla Cerralvo, creating one of North America's most reliable wind corridors. The water is warm and flat, the town is small and friendly, and the wind blows 20+ knots almost every day from November through March. It's become a winter escape for North American kiters fleeing the cold.
