Convert wind or travel speed from mph to knots. Essential when your local weather shows mph but marine forecasts and watersport apps use knots.

4.34
8.69
10.43
13.03
15.64
17.38
19.99
21.72
24.33
26.07
28.68
30.41
34.76
39.1
43.45
47.79
52.14
To convert mph to knots, divide by 1.151 (or multiply by 0.869). If your local weather says 25 mph winds, that's about 21.7 knots.
This matters for gear selection — a kitesurfer who knows they need a 9m kite above 22 knots needs to know that 25 mph crosses that threshold. Most dedicated watersport weather apps (Windy, Windguru, iKitesurf) report wind in knots, but general weather apps in the US often use mph.
Watersports Tracker records your speed, distance, route, and more — for 24+ sports.
